KoopmansI think the placements have been on the weaker side because there is less need for accounting professors. Enrollments are way down in most programs, hence, fewer lines. I hope PhD programs start to scale back in size.
Actually acc PhD programs are already very small relative to other disciplines. The only solution is to close programs, especially those at LRMs who don't have the means to train their students well. However, incentives in place prevent this from happening.
Because almost no industry positions would specifically need an Accounting PhD.
For the little positions accepting accounting phds, normally they cannot compete with people from Finance and Econ.Economist

I believe PP received better offers from Stanford and Haravard, who are still in a bidding war for him. But he declined Chicago already
